How do I read Opacity on my MiniScan EZ (or ColorFlex EZ) instrument? Follow
FAQ: “How do I read Opacity on my MiniScan EZ (or ColorFlex EZ) instrument?”
1. To measure opacity you will first need to make sure the auto search is off at the Global option.
Go to Main Menu/Global Option/Auto Search, make sure the 'COLOR DIFF' is showed as '(...)', which means auto search off.
2. Then navigate to the product set up you wish to configure. Once in the product set up you will need to make sure that the standard is set to WORKING.
3. After that, navigate to the View you would like to configure. One in the view you will need to set your desired Display, Ill/Obs, and Color Scale. In the Color Index field use the left and right arrows to navigate to the OP (opacity) index.
Once you have configured the VIEW and the PRODUCT SETUP you can return to the Main Menu. Select READ and choose the Product Setup you just configured to read and report opacity. You will be prompted to “Place sample with white backing.” Press the READ button and the color values will be displayed. Press the READ button again and you will be prompted to “Place sample with black backing.” Press the READ button again and the color values will be displayed along with OP (Opacity).
Please note, that even if you have OP selected as the Color Index in the View, you will not be able to take opacity measurements unless the Standard in the Product Setup is set to WORKING.
FAQ: “This customer is asking about reading ‘contrast ratios’ with the MiniScan EZ, is the instrument capable of this?”
Another term for Opacity is ” Contrast Ratio Opacity” as the ratio measurement made over a black background and a white background.
