Every color measurement method has 6 parameters that must be clearly identified and matched at all sites to ensure inter-instrument agreement:

1. Color Scale
2. CIE Illuminant
3. CIE Standard Observer
4. Instrument Geometry and standardization mode, including UV filter position if present
5. Sample Preparation
6. Sample Presentation

The best method for inter-instrument agreement is to use the same instrument and accessories from the same manufacturer, with the same measurement method.
