Question: Does my HunterLab instrument have an ASTM standard
Answer;
ASTM stands for American Standard Test Methods. So ASTM is not a physical standard, but a standard written Test Method or procedure. This Test Method may specify that a particular physical standard is used.
All HunterLab instruments are acceptable to use with ASTM E1164 the "Standard Practice for Obtaining Spectrometric Data for Object-Color Evaluation"
Additonally HunterLab software follows the procedure in ASTM E308 for Computing the Colors of Objects by Using the CIE System.
There are some specific standards related to instrument geometry.
All of our sphere based instruments can be used with ASTM E1348 Transmittance and Color by Spectrophotometry Using Hemispherical Geometry
All of our 45/0 and 0/45 instruments can be used with ASTM E1349 Reflectance Factor and Color by Spectrophotometry Using Bidirectional (45°:0° or 0°:45°) Geometry
