ColorQuest XE/XT Product Discontinuation

HunterLab is announcing the discontinuation of our ColorQuest Family of measurement instruments.

ColorQuest has had a successful run over the last 30 years, which began with the ColorQuest I in 1986 and culminating into today’s ColorQuest XE and XT. ColorQuest has been instrumental in helping HunterLab to grow in new markets over these past many years. ColorQuest has reached its end of life owing to increased difficulties in supporting this legacy technology going forward through the supply chain. On the positive side, ColorQuest has also enabled opportunities for new products in these markets going forward, the first being the introduction of Vista, HunterLab’s newest transmission color and haze spectrophotometer!

The planned discontinuance of ColorQuest is as follows:

Effectivity:   Both the CQXE and CQXT will be discontinued effective August 31, 2016.  HunterLab will work with individual sales representatives and distributors to address specific customer needs during the period leading up to discontinuation.  Any open sales quotations at the time of discontinuation will be handled on a case by case basis and subject to remaining instrument availability.

On-Going Product Support:   HunterLab will provide Field Service and Technical Support for the ColorQuest product for as long as service parts are available, nominally five years from discontinuation.  However, our ability to support the product into the future is limited as technologies continue to evolve and system components become increasingly difficult to procure.

Alternate Solutions:   With evolving technologies, HunterLab is excited to introduce Vista, the newest transmission color and haze spectrophotometer within the HunterLab product family. For customer’s currently using the CQXE and the CQXT or budgeting for the purchase of a new CQXE or CQXT, HunterLab recommends the Vista for transmission color and haze only applications.  Vista is a feature-rich system that will supersede the ColorQuest by offering even greater value to our current ColorQuest customers. 

For customers requiring both transmittance and reflectance measurements, there are two choices available; (1) upgrade to UltraScan VIS or PRO, or; (2) customers can purchase both the Vista and a ColorFlex at a very economical price.
