How to Hitch Aeros to Existing Standards and Color Measuring Instruments

Adjustments can be made to Aeros so that the measured color more closely matches existing instrumentation. This process is called "Hitching".  Follow the instructions below and use the downloadable Excel spreadsheet to help guide you through the process.

  1. Measure a known good sample or tile with Aeros and then with the instrument that you are hitching to and then enter the values in the attached Excel Spreadsheet.

Note: Make sure that both the Aeros and the instrument you want to hitch to are both using the same color scale and illuminant/observer. This is typically either L a b or L* a* b*, and either D65/10 or C/2. It is important that they are set the same in both instruments and that they agree with the Standard or Target.

  1. Select the WORKSPACE icon in the menu and then select STANDARDS AND TOLERANCES.
  2. Select NUMERIC standard (instead of PHYSICAL) type and input a STANDARD NAME. Input the NUMERIC VALUES under Scale along with the optional TOLERANCES used to determine the color differences for Pass/Fail of the product. Press APPLY to continue.

mceclip0.png

  1.  Press the HITCH button.
  2. Enter the Spreadsheet values that are calculated from Step 1 into the Target boxes for the Hitch Standard.

enter_target.png

4. To make sure it is working correctly, re-measure the sample on Aeros. The values should match the       existing Instrument now, and the Standard shown in the Color Data Table should be your Existing         Standard. Be sure click OK and then click APPLY.

Predictive Diagnostics in Aeros Essentials

HunterLab Predictive Diagnostics is a software application that is designed to monitor the software and hardware components of HunterLab’s Essentials-based instruments in order to ensure a better color measurement experience for HunterLab customers. The Predictive Diagnostics is mainly used to capture different low-level and user-initiated data during normal operations of the Essentials based instruments.

Following are predictive diagnostics features implemented in Aeros Essentials Rev1.05 and above.

1. Predictive Diagnostics settings in WORKSPACE MENU > DIAGNOSTICS > PREDICTIVE:

mceclip0.png

1.1 Setup reminder interval (days) for the repeatability test (white tile) and green tile test. Disable/enable alerts from predictive diagnostics. As default, "DISABLE ERROR/WARNING ALERTS" is checked.

1.2 View trend plots of repeatability diagnostics tests (white tile), green tile diagnostics tests, and monitor channel TOS (Collected from each standardization). In each trend plot, first select the time range, then click the SHOW button to display the data. In the plot, click each data point to get the details showing in the right side.

mceclip2.png

1.3 Export the predictive diagnostics data in csv files to thumb drive. It is recommended to share the predictive diagnostics files when users contact support@hunterlab.com for instrument issues. There are three types of predictive diagnostics files:

Diagnostics Data records all the diagnostics tests (Repeatability, Green Tile and Gloss Tile test)

Standardization vector log records raw data from sample channel and monitor channel during each standardization.

Initial Data is the record of original raw data from sample channel and monitor channel. This data should not be modified by users.

mceclip3.png

2. Collect raw data from each standardization, analysis, and provide Warning messages.

  2.1 Record standardization vector data.

2.2 Record the sample channel signal data of instrument Black glass. Show a warning alert if Max BOS is above 700.

2.3 Record the Monitor channel Signal data of instrument White tile. Show a warning alert if max monitor data is below 21000.

2.4 Record the Sample channel Signal data of instrument White tile. Show a warning alert if max monitor data is below 21000.

3. Except the above predictive diagnostics alerts, here are some additional alerts: Show a warning alert if green tile any XYZ difference is between 0.25-0.3. Show a warning alert if next service date of this instrument is in 1 month.

4. Once the "DISABLE ERROR/WARNING ALERTS" is unchecked and applied in WORKSPACE MENU > DIAGNOSTICS > PREDICTIVE, the info button in the tool bar will list all the existing warning and error messages and it will be labeled with different color dot.

-If there is error(s), the info button will be shown with a red dot.

-If the instrument has warning(s) but no error, the info button will be shown with a yellow dot.

-If there is no error or warning, then no color dot is labeled on info button.
