FAQ: Can a lamp upgrade to the ColorFlex EZ measure the UV range?
The ColorFlex EZ can only report spectral reflectance from 400nm to 700nm in 10nm increments. There is no method to increase the reporting range of a ColorFlex EZ. An unmodified ColorFlex EZ provides a nominal amount of UV energy to the sample when it is illuminated during the read sequence. If any of the UV energy is re-emitted in the range of 400nm to 700nm then the ColorFlex EZ will report that energy. The amount of UV energy supplied varies from instrument to instrument and there is no method to control this amount. A user can employ a port that has a filter glass permanently attached that can prevent UV energy from illuminating the sample during the read sequence.
