Purpose:  The ColorFlex EZ has the 457B spectral metric in the firmware but to facilitate an inter-instrument agreement to TAPPI 452 Standards, this CMR adds a global offset and gain to the display.

WarningImportant Notes:
Used on: ColorFlex EZ
Delivery: 6 Weeks

Imersys is similar to many other calcium carbonate producers in that it owns legacy D25As to measure Y Brightness C/2, TAPPI 457 nm Brightness, Whiteness Index E313 C/2, and CIE L*, a*, b* color. The limestone product is hand-pressed into a plaque and measured directly on the pressed plaque. The standalone ColorFlex EZ is an excellent replacement instrument for this application, and Imerys was impressed with the unit in our site visit to Imerys Baltimore on December 9th.

One outstanding issue is that they need to report TAPPI T452 457 Directional Brightness for their non-UV optically brightened calcium carbonate products used as fillers in the paper industry. There is a good potential for a 15+ unit sale for ColorFlex EZ over the next year with Imerys. We could also put together a calcium carbonate package and offer to major world suppliers.

  •  In MAIN MENU > GLOBAL OPTIONS, set the offset (default 0.000) and gain (1.000) to be user-edited for the 457B or 457nm Brightness metric.
  • If these parameters are modified from the default, display 457B with an asterisk (similar to what is done with the HCCI index) to indicate that the metric has been user-modified from default.
