FAQ: What is Error Code 1040?
Answer:
Firmware error codes are displayed in the lower left corner of the ColorFlex EZ or MiniScan EZ display screen if a problem occurs during standardization or sample readings.
The error code "1040" with no text is a hybrid combination of 1000 "Monitor signal low" and 4000 "Dark scan fail" that shows up when measuring the bottom-of-scale during standardization. The Monitor Channel in this dual beam sensor is getting insufficient signal. Verify that the batteries are fully charged. If this is the case, this is the easy fix.
If the batteries are fully charged, then it is usually a board issue that requires return of the unit for service.
MAIN MENU > LEFT ARROW to turn the unit off and re-start. Standardize and if there is a board issue, you will receive an error message 1000 - Monitor signal low - in lower left corner. Contact HunterLab Support (support@hunterlab.com).
