Workspace
The collection of user preferred parameters of View Selection, Color Scales and Indices, Tolerances, Display of Absolute/Difference, and Measurement Mode are defined and organized as Workspace.

The Global defaults (Settings) are maintained separately as a fixed set of parameters which are not mutable.  Every newly created workspace is derived with Global Defaults values initially. The user can change the workspace settings and save with a unique workspace name.   The changes in the workspace will not affect the Global defaults. Currently, the workspace features are implemented per the below inputs:

  • Combining multiple measurement modes within a Workspace is not provided.
  • When a user modifies a Workspace at the local level, he will have the opportunity to save the workspace or Saves a new workspace.
  • When a user exits Essentials and returns, the last used Workspace will be loaded unless the user has not selected that option in Global Defaults.  In that case the Essentials will open with the “default Workspace” parameters instead of prompting the user to create or load a workspace.
Job
The Job mainly consists of Standard and Samples measured associated to a specific workspace environment.  A new Job when started will derive the current loaded workspace settings.  Now, the user can change the settings as per his choice and all the changes will be applied locally to the current Job and will not affect the workspace settings. The job is saved along with the current associated workspace settings applied to job.  This will enable the settings to be reinstated accordingly when a job reopened respectively.  Similarly, the last loaded workspace settings are applied automatically when user creates a new job. Thus, the workspace settings can be independently retained unaffected even when the settings are changed locally within the Job Scope.
  • A Job can contain a Standard, Tolerances or just sample measurements.
  • A Job cannot have multiple Standards.
  • Only one job can be open at one time.
  • A Job’s measurement records can be recalled (see Recall Measurements)
