FAQ: How can I determine if my MiniScan EZ is connected to my computer?

WarningImportant Notes:
Applies to:  MiniScan EZ

Answer:

We need to determine if your computer can recognize that the MiniScan EZ is connected. Can you identify the sensor in the Hardware Device Manager?

Look in START > CONTROL PANEL > SYSTEM > HARDWARE > DEVICE MANAGER, then expand the Human Interface Device branch of the Hardware tree. As you connect and then disconnect the MiniScan EZ (the MiniScan EZ must be powered on) to the USB port you will see a Human Interface Device appear then disappear. If the MiniScan EZ is connected and it powers off, it will disappear from the list.

Look at all of the Human Interface Devices listed, click on PROPERTIES > DETAILS.

Look for the Device ID VID_1D89&PID_3DA5\1.0.0. This is the ID for the MiniScan EZ.

Does it show up? If it shows up you are connected, if it does not show up contact the HunterLab Service Department for further troubleshooting of the USB interface card in the MiniScan EZ.

Once connected you can start the MiniScan EZ Utility software that was supplied with your sensor and retrieve the contents of the Datalog. Convert the contents from Hex into ASCii characters. Then you can use a program such as notepad or Excel or Word to view the file.
