FAQ: I used the hitch feature to hitch the new ColorFlex EZ to another instrument using the second setup tab. When I entered the hitch values in the hitch window the second digit to the left of the decimal point would not display a zero. It went from 9 to 1 and did not display a zero. Either a bug or the firmware was not installed properly. I needed to enter a*=-00.40 and would show either a*=-09.40 or a*=-01.40. Could not get a*=-00.40 to enter in the value in the hitch window.
Answer:
We need to know all of the hitch values they are attempting to enter in order to determine if the a* = -00.40 is real or imaginary in relation to the L* and b* values. The MiniScan EZ/ColorFlex EZ does not allow imaginary color values to be entered. The way the firmware works is any color scale value entered is immediately converted back to XYZ for storage. If the back calculation results in a negative value for XYZ the negative tristimulus value is converted to 0 and the new color scale value is displayed. This is also how EasyMatch QC works.
The values being entered were from the MiniScan as follows:
L*=63.53 a*=-0.41 b*=14.10
This is gray color space. The user could enter a* as -01.41 or -09.41 but not -00.41
The values are real and can be entered on the customer sensor in the following fashion.
For a* and b* the following fields exist with the following logic. Fields are called ABCDE
If A = - , then B must be a value from 1 to 9 and CDE can be values from 0-9.
If A = null (blank space) then B must be null or - or a value from 1 to 9, then CDE can be values from 0-9.
You are trying to enter -00.41, the correct entry would be -0.41 with only one leading zero.
