FAQ:  Where can I buy disposable polystyrene tissue culture dishes - 90 -100mm x 25mm high?

Answer:

Depending on the nature of the sample, it can be handy to have a plastic sample container that can be re-cycled and replaced.

Here are sources for a disposable, polystyrene tissue culture dish - 100mm diameter x 25mm high, suitable for Hunter Lab instruments with port diameters less than 50mm diameter. Most tissue culture dishes are 15mm high; we like the 25mm height of these ones because sample filling is easier. You may not have to fill the dish with sample to the top. Just fill with enough sample to be effectively opaque when viewed through the bottom.

• BD Fisher extra-depth polystyrene dishes (100mm diameter x 25mm high) are available from Fisher Scientific www.fishersci.com (Catalogue number 08-757-11).
• An alternative source is SKS D210-8R clear polystyrene petri dishes (90 mm diameter x 25 mm high) available from SKS Science www.sks-science.com (Catalogue number D210-8R).

Other brands are also acceptable provided:

• They are optically clear through the measurement window (no grids).
• The measurement window can be placed flush at the port.
• The dish window is larger than a 50 mm (2 inch) diameter port.

Note: HunterLab does stock the SKS dishes for use with our ColorFlex EZ Coffee meter. They can be ordered as Plastic Sample Dish, 90 mm diameter x 25 mm high, and typically ordered as a set of 10.
