Purpose: This article reviews the requirements of the different TAPPI standards.

WarningImportant Notes:
Applies to:  ColorFlex EZ, UltraScan VIS, UltraScan PRO

Tappi 524 is the color test method, which defines use of a 45/0 instrument, Illuminant C/2-degree observer, and color scale of HunterLab, CIELAB, Yxy or Dom. Wavelength & Purity. Based on the requirements, the ColorFlex EZ would comply with this specification for Scales reported using C/2.

Tappi 452 is the direction brightness test method, which defines use of a 45/0 instrument and a combination of filters and illumination to achieve a spectral power distribution defined by the method. ColorFlex EZ Index 457 brightness - while not fully conforming to all aspects of the method does a very close approximation to values produced using a fully compliant instrument assuming the user follows the sample preparation and presentation prescribed in the test method.

Tappi 425 is the diffuse Opacity test method, which defines use of a 15-degree/diffuse instrument, Illuminant A/2-degree and to report Opacity or Contrast ratio using an 89% White backing and a Light trap. UltraScan Vis or Pro.

Read Method Opacity - while not fully conforming to all aspects of the method does a very close approximation to values produced using a fully compliant instrument assuming the user follows the sample preparation and presentation prescribed in the test method.
