FAQ: My customer is measuring haze of gelatin solutions with Dr. Lange LTP5. As result he gets TE/F units. Can he do the same measurements with Vista? I have seen that I can get haze in NTU units. Will I get the same numeric values?

Answer:

TE/F stands for "Trubungseinheit/Formazin" (TE/F) related to an older German standard of turbidity, that has now been replaced by the Formazin Nephelometric Units (FNU). FNU units are defined in ISO 7027.

ISO 7027:1999 Water quality -- Determination of turbidity

There are several units and sensor configuration for measuring turbidity (see Turbidity Units at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nephelometer).

Our instruments measure scattering as Haze% per ASTM D1003 Part B. We correlate to the liquid turbidity standards with assigned values in NTUs and report in NTUs which are equivalent to FNUs. NTU is the most common reporting unit for turbidity.
